FIRST MUTUAL IMPACTS THE FUTURE TODAY

First Mutual Holdings Limited as part of its group Corporate Social Responsibility collaborated with World Education Incorporated/Bantwana, WEI/B three years ago to launch the First Mutual Foundation whose objective is to offer education assistance to children from economically challenged backgrounds.

“Our brand ethos is bringing economic dignity to our stakeholders and all our valued clients.  This is a natural fit in that we are enabling these children to have that dignity of going to school and not left out in the communities they are living in.  Our moto this year is #ItsPossible and for these children their background does not matter but what is important is the future”, said Mr Douglas Hoto the Group CEO of First Mutual Holdings Limited at the 3rd First Mutual Foundation anniversary commemoration held recently.  “Our rationale is that as our business belongs to the tertiary sector, it is important that we play a role in educating our future market as well as capacitating the skills base at tertiary level to create competent, skilled additional manpower and talent pool at university level for continued regeneration of our industry”, he added.

To date, the Foundation has supported 110 children from nine districts in Zimbabwe to access primary and secondary education.  Twenty percent of the beneficiaries are from the urban areas and the remaining eighty percent are from the rural areas.

Ms Auxilia Badza, the National Education Coordinator at WEI/B said that the main objectives was to support reintegration into formal school for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) as well as youth who are out of school and to increase their attendance and retention by providing them with schools.  “As an organisation, we are very excited about this partnership with First Mutual Foundation as it provided us with an opportunity to reach many more vulnerable children around Zimbabwe and improve their well being as is stipulated by our mission”, she said.
